Navigating culture, identity, and difference can feel overwhelming — even when your heart is in the right place.

Rooted Mosaic supports individuals, teams, and organizations in developing cultural identity, intercultural agility, and redemptive leadership — so you can engage across difference with confidence, humility, and clarity.

Many individuals and teams want to foster belonging, justice, and connection—but feel stuck, unsure, or overwhelmed. I help you move forward when:

  • You’re not sure how to talk about culture, identity, or race without causing harm.

  • You want to lead well across difference but lack shared language or tools.

  • Your team desires belonging yet struggles with tension or silence.

  • You’re navigating your own cultural identity and want clarity and grounded confidence.

  • You see gaps between your values and your practices and want guidance to grow.

  • You’re committed to change but need a clear, hopeful starting point.

IF THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR, YOU’RE NOT ALONE

YOU DON’T HAVE TO NAVIGATE THIS ALONE

Meet Julia

A woman smiling outdoors with a beach and ocean in the background.

I’m Julia Van Der Werf — founder of Rooted Mosaic and an intercultural coach who works at the intersection of identity, leadership, and belonging.

My work has been shaped by years of teaching, community-based leadership, and walking alongside people navigating difference in real, imperfect contexts. I’m rooted in Minneapolis, raising three boys in the middle school years, and continually learning how to live with intention — aligning what we believe with how we show up.

I don’t approach this work as someone with all the answers, but as a fellow learner committed to growth, honesty, and repair. I believe meaningful change happens in community — when we listen well, stay curious, and choose to grow together.
